about

Frank & Dale Witner (at the time performing live at a coffee house in Myrtle Beach as The Martyrs) recorded these songs and others in the Carolina Room, their living room, but with a 4-track recorder on the floor. Frank played guitar with a quarter most of the time. Dale sang. "Calabasher Jr." is an abbreviated version of "Calabasher," which contains mostly covers. Don't worry -- you're not missing much. The Witners were sort of the alt rock Everly Brothers, although once you got to the driveway, they were unknown.
